Porsche Club GB –Lancashire & Cumbria Region are again running “Porkers in the Trough to help raise funds for Rosemere Cancer Foundation based in Preston. In addition to raising funds we are running the event for PCGB members to enjoy a scenic drive through an area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’ – The Trough of Bowland.
The route this year will start at Garstang Golf Club with a driver briefing at 9.00. Bacon barmcakes, tea and coffee will be available. These need to be pre-ordered.
The first cars will leave at 9.30 sharp to drive to the half way halt at Lytham Hall. Parking at Lytham Hall will be £8.00 per car which includes a tour of the house. Alternative free parking is available but will be a short walk away from the estate. Lytham Hall is a charity and not Council owned and the charge is to help towards the continuing restoration of the hall. There is a small café on site and we are hoping some outside catering facilities may also be present (TBC). Or you may wish to bring a picnic. See www.lythamhall.org.uk. Lytham town is but a short walk away.
Cars will leave Lytham Hall mid-afternoon for a short drive back to Garstang Golf Club for prize giving and a meal. This year by popular request we will have hot-pot or lasagne available rather than a buffet. Children’s portions are available at reduced prices or nuggets and chips, for example, will also be available.
As always there is no entry fee to take part in this event and all we ask is that you make a donation to Rosemere Cancer Foundation, and envelopes will be provided and Rosemere will get an additional 25% back from gift aid if details are provided. In 2017 we raised some £5000 at this event for Rosemere.
At our March AGM, we agreed to continue running the Business Club with an early evening start time (circa 5.45pm) and with no annual membership. Meeting visits will be charged at £5.00 per attendance.
The CLBC will continue to use Leyland Golf Club for their meetings. However, the next three events will be held at other venues.
Thursday 27th April
In April, the Club will be visiting the David Lloyd Club at Moss Lane in Chorley (Whittle-le-Woods). As our April meeting was scheduled for Easter week we have put it back. It is now on Thursday 27th April.
Tuesday 16th May
In May (Tuesday 16th) we will meet at La Corte restaurant and bar, near Leyland Railway Station, to gather together before walking the Leyland Truck Trail. We have requested official guide leaflets (if ready) and are hoping to have a real guide from the design agency StoneCreate.
Tuesday 20th June
In June we have an invitation to Rosemere Cancer Foundation on Tuesday 20th. More information about this meeting coming soon...
We looked at the changes we made to the meetings run since September 2016, and the modified format seems to have been more successful. We'll therefore be carrying that through into 2017, with a couple of minor tweaks:
Start time - 5.45pm at Leyland Golf Club
Attendance fee (£5.00) - to cover room hire, coffee, tea and biscuits
The club no longer has an annual subscription fee
